Here are the answers to some questions we often get asked about Podiatry!

How do I know if my shoes are right for me?
Footwear can be a major factor in causing injuries and discomfort. All feet are different and we demand a huge amount from them so it is critical to find the right shoes for you. With the wide variety of quality and price of shoes being offered, it is hard to know what is right.

At Walk On Podiatry we utilise our video and treadmill gait analysis and extensive knowledge to help you choose the right shoe for your lifestyle.
Do you have early or late appointments?
At Walk On Podiatry we try to cater for all needs. We offer appointments before 9am and after 5pm and also appointments on Saturday mornings. For appointment times....Read more
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
You DO NOT require a referral from your doctor to see one of our Podiatrists. You are able call any of our clinics and one of our friendly receptionists will be happy to assist you with organising an appointment.
Are the podiatrists qualified?
All of our Podiatrists have completed a four year Bachelor of Podiatry Degree and are all equally qualified to treat and manage your problem. We are committed to furthering our education at every opportunity by regularly attending seminars, conferences and courses.

As a clinic we pride ourselves on the high quality and range of our in-house training that we deliver on a regular basis. Podiatrists attending outside courses are required to share their learning with the rest of the team. This way we keep up to date with the latest treatments for our patients and can help them get back to a full and active life.
Can you help with ingrowing toenails?
Ingrown toenails are a common toenail problem. They can be caused by poor nail cutting technique, curved nail edges, pressure from footwear or repeated trauma to the feet and toes.

The caring team at Walk On Podiatry will provide you with a range of conservative or bolder options depending on the severity of your ingrown nail condition. Regular ongoing treatment can often help to reduce painful ingrown nails but there are also options to permanently remove this section of nail.

Our Podiatrists are able to discuss and perform the surgical removal of the affected part of the nail under local anaesthetic. They will also provide you with specific advice before and after the surgery to ensure you get back to enjoying the activities you love.
Do you take private health cards?
We accept all major private health fund cards. Through our HICAPS system you can get instant rebates, saving you having to claim later. Please note not all extras on Health Care Cards cover Podiatry. You DO NOT need to have private heath cover to visit us. We welcome everyone at Walk On Podiatry.
Is it safe and hygienic to have my toenails treated?
All the instruments that our Podiatrists use are properly sterilised. We also use specialist instruments to provide precise nail care for those needing specific treatment.
Why do I get corns and hard skin?
Your Podiatrist will assess your feet using our advanced video and treadmill analysis. We then sit down with you to clearly explain any issues we find and the best treatment option for you.

All feet and legs are different, so at Walk On Podiatry we can provide over the counter or custom made orthotics
What are orthotics?
Orthotics are designed to correct your foot position and remove the stress and strain from different parts of your body that may be resulting in pain during sport or everyday living.

Offloading these areas promotes healing and allows you to return to the activities you love and perform pain free to the best of your ability.
